If you get certain benefits and your boiler is really old (20 years or more), the UK government's Energy Company Obligation (ECO) might help you get a grant to replace it with a new and more efficient A-rated boiler.
The free boiler scheme started in January 2013 to cut down on the UK's energy use. It gives grants to low-income homes so they can make their houses more energy-efficient. This program is part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and the Electricity and Gas Order, which became law in 2012 and will continue until 2022. The biggest utility companies in the UK mainly fund it. The main goal is to reduce heating costs for homes, and the free boiler scheme is one way to achieve that under the HHCRO obligation of ECO.
